I have had that same feeling of joy and excitement several times. The problem now, for writers, is that if you do not have a platform/social media following, your book will languish on Amazon forever. Even if you have such a following, that does not translate to sales. How many of your

"followers" will fork over the $15-20, read and leave good reviews for your book? Lots of people SAY they will but no one does. Not even family. I stopped reminding them.

Time is short for everyone. The fact that you have a book on Amazon is not exciting to everyone, or anyone really, except you (assuming as you say, you are not Stephen King). I am not dismissing you and your work only to say this is my experience, not only with self-published books but books published by large traditional publishers and small press publishers. I wrote a piece on this here on Medium titled "Nobody Wants to Read Your Bloody Book."
