Your article is a great reminder of how money problems and anxiety can snuff out love.

I have always maintained my bank accounts separate from my husband's. When it comes to bills, we both pitch in. What he does with other money is his business and I never need to consult him if I want or need to buy something, except when it comes to large purchases for the home, which we discuss, of course. I learned the misery of debt late in life, but I learned it well. Neither of us complains and we never fight about money. And I always come back to the need for women to be educated, have and keep a profession, career, or marketable skill so as to always have something to fall back on, not just a man.
